100126 - New Ink

I just want to show you my new tattoos, starting out as a joke between me and my sister, turned out to be very real this afternoon, when I visited my dear friend Robin. I can tell you this much, if you ever feel the need of tattoing the inside of your fingers. DONT DO IT for gods sake. I've never experienced as much pain, and it only took a few seconds to get it done.

The main reason was to get the Illuminati ambigrams done on my wrists, but it didnt happen, instead I got my sparrow/swallow/bird thingy on my left upper arm redone, filling the lines and such. My camera stopped working when I tried to take a picture of it earlier, its too dark to take one with my webcam and its all bloody and gorey at the moment, but I'll take one for you tomorrow, I dont think Ive ever shown it to you?

Leonard Lake 1946-1985

Leonard Lake was born in San Francisco in July 1946. His parents split up at the age of six, he and his mother went to live with his grandmother. As a child Lake collected mice and enjoyed killing them by dissolving them in acid, a technique he would later use to help dispose of his human victims. At 18 Lake joined the US Marines, and served two tours in Vietnam as a radar operator. In Da Nang, he suffered a delusional breakdown and was sent home in 1971. He was married by this time, but his wife left him due to his sexual perversions. and violence. He became a part of the hippie lifestyle around San Francisco, living in a hippie commune in Ukiah, California, when he met Claralyn Balazs, or Cricket. Balazs became deeply involved in Lake's sexual fantasies, she starred in the pornographic moves he began to make. Through his obsession with guns, he met Charles Ng.

Charles Ng 1960-

Born in Hong Kong, Charlie was a disruptive child, obsessed with martial arts and setting fires. His parents sent him to an English private school in an effort to straighten him out but was expelled for stealing. He went to California were he attended college. He signed up for the Us Marines to avoid the connsequenses of a hit and run car accident he'd been involved in. It was there he met Lake, they cae up with a plan to sell guns that Ng would steal from the marine arsenal. He was caught stealing and sentenced to three years in prison. At his release in 1985 he contacted Lake, and moved to his ranch in California. By then Lake had killed his brother Donald and best man Charles Gunnar in order to steal their oney and Gunnar's identity.

Over the next year Lake and Ng indulged themselves in an orgy of rape, torture and murder. Their victims included their neighbours Lonnie Bond, girlfriend Brenda O'Connor and their baby son, and another young family. In both casaes the men and children was killed immediately while the women were kept alive for Lake and Ng to torture and rape while filming.

In June 1985 Ng was spotted shoplifting from a San Fransicso hardware store. Lake appeared on the scene and tried to settle thing by paying for the stolen goods. The police noticed that the plates on Lake's car were registered to another vehicle, and when they found a gun with a silencer in the back of the car Lake was arrested. In custody, he asked for a pen, a piece of paper and a glass of water. He wrote a not to Balazs, and quickly swallowed the cyanide pills he had sewn into his clothes. After identifying the true identity of himself and Ng, he went into compulsions and died four days later due to the cyanide.

When the police searched Lakes house, they found several cars belonging to their victims. But Ng was nowhere to be found. One of the officers noticed a human foot poking out of the ground, and unearthed 18 kilograms of burned and smashed human bone fragment belonging to at least a dozen bodies, they also came across a treasure map, eading them to a pail containing Lake's personal journals and videotapes showing their torture of two of their victims.

Ng had flown to Detroit and crossed the border to Canada where he was eventually arrested, and was shipped back to the States in 1991, and 15 years after his crimes, in 1999 he was sentenced to death.

Music Monday - Johann Pachelbel

As for today, Im focusing on classical music, and Pachelbel.

Johann Pachelbel (September 1, 1653 - March 9, 1706) was born in Nuremburg, then one of the so-called "free" imperial cities and a great center of learning and culture, an took instructions from Heinrich Schwemmer. After leaving school in 1669 he spent a year in Altdorf before moving to Regensburg where he began to make important contacts with musicians associated with the Austrian Court in Vienna. By 1673 he was living in Vienna, where he was deputy organist at St. Stephen's Cathedral and took music lessons with Johann Kaspar Kerll, who fashioned Pachelbel's mature organ style. The younger man often deputized for Kerll on the organ of the Predigerkirche.

In 1677 Pachelbel left Vienna and began a peripatetic period in his life where he held the organ position in churches in many towns across the central and southern German states, including Eisenach and Erfurt (where he came into contact with the Bach family, including Ambrosius Bach, Johann Sebastian Bach's father), Stuttgart and Gotha. He remained in Gotha from 1692-95, then return to his home city of Nuremburg, this time on a substantially different footing than when he had left it; Pachelbel was by now a famous and influential figure in the world of music, his especial skill in composition – his infinitely inventive creation of chorale variations stressing the importance of cantabile and clarity of line – proving especially popular and definitive in the world of organ music at that time. His many pupils included Johann Sebastian Bach's elder brother Johann Christoph, who was one of many to digest his methodology and carry his compositional message to others.

Pachelbel had return to Nuremburg to succeed to his old teacher Georg Kaspar Wecker at the church of St. Sebaldus, a position he retained until his death at the age of 52. Most of his music was written for the organ, but some of his earliest surviving works are a set of motets including Nun danket alle Gott and Der Herr ist König, written during his time in Erfurt, which are a models of clarity and tunefulness. His greatest compositional achievement is generally recognized to be the Hexachordum Apollinis of 1699, six sets of keyboard variations on various airs, but other worthy efforts include Musikalische Stephens-Gedanken of 1683 and the Musikalische Ergötzung (1695), a series of dance suites written for string trio which were meant for the type of domestic entertainment at court or among musical colleagues supplied in a later generation by Georg Philipp Telemann's Tafelmusik. It would seem that the famed Canon and Gigue for three violin and bass continuo was probably written for a similar Hausmusik function; its orchestration occurred much later.
